I am pleased to announce that the Call for Papers for the Fourth International Conference of the German Cognitive Linguistics Association has been released (English - German). The conference will be held from October 7-9, 2010 at the University of Bremen. We look forward to welcoming you for three days of stimulating papers and discussions!
I will give a workshop on Corpus Linguistics and Construction Grammar at the conference on Konstruktionsgrammatik: Neue Perspektiven zur Untersuchung des Deutschen und Englischen [Construction Grammar: New Perspectives on German and English] in Kiel in Feburary 2010. Juliana Goschler and I will also present our work on German pleonastic directionals at this conference and at the Annual Meeting of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Sprachwissenschaft.
The Institut für deutsche Sprache has invited me to give a plenary talk on Construction Grammar at what promises to be an extremely interesting Annual Meeting of the IDS in Mannheim in March 2010.
I am honored to announce that I have been invited to join the advisory board of Zeitschrift für Anglistik und Amerikanistik, one of Germany's most prestigious English Studies journal. I look forward to working with my colleagues on the board and with the excellent team of editors.
The conference Bi-directional Perspectives in the Cognitive Sciences in Marburg is over. It was fun and intellectually stimulating (and I now know a city where you take an elevator to the city centre -- whatever will they think of next). A slightly extended and referenced version of my keynote "Cognitive Linguistics as a Cognitive Science" can be found here (PDF, 220 KB).
