Corpus Linguistics and Construction Grammar

I will give a workshop on Corpus Linguistics and Construction Grammar at the conference on Konstruktionsgrammatik: Neue Perspektiven zur Untersuchung des Deutschen und Englischen [Construction Grammar: New Perspectives on German and English] in Kiel in Feburary 2010. Juliana Goschler and I will also present our work on German pleonastic directionals at this conference and at the Annual Meeting of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Sprachwissenschaft.

I am honored to announce that I have been invited to join the advisory board of Zeitschrift für Anglistik und Amerikanistik, one of Germany's most prestigious English Studies journal. I look forward to working with my colleagues on the board and with the excellent team of editors.

Bi-directional Perspectives in the Cognitive Sciences

The conference Bi-directional Perspectives in the Cognitive Sciences in Marburg is over. It was fun and intellectually stimulating (and I now know a city where you take an elevator to the city centre -- whatever will they think of next). DGKL/GCLA 2010

I am honored to announce that the General Assembly of the German Cognitive Linguistics Association (GCLA/DGKL) appointed me as the convenor of the association's next conference, which will take place in 2010 and which I will co-organize with Andrea Graumann. As convenor of the 2010 conference, I will also serve on the association's board for the next four years.
