At the Crystal Palace exhibition of 1851 in London, a new intriguing instrument was introduced to the visitors, the stereoscope. During the next couple of years, it became the worlds first visual mass-entertainment medium. Vistas, portraits and visual slapstick, wars and desasters, exotic places and expeditions, buildings and social events... every facet of live was documented on millions of stereoscopic views. Today those views are a perfect source of photographic documentation for the last half of the 19th century.
- Further stereoviews can be found on my page about amber inclusions. -

My main interest as a collector lies in 19th century views from Asia (preferable Japan and China). Not only stereoscopic, but also 'normal' ones, for example handcolored japanese photographs (Yokohama shashin). If you have something to sell or swap, please contact me.
